Activities for AAC Users Summer 2006

Pam Harris, on behalf of her son, Josh, has organized several opportunities
for AAC users to spend time with other AAC users.

Join Pam and Josh and others:

READING AND TALKING( AND HAVING FUN )
where:Border’s in Oak Brook
When: Tuesdays starting June 20th –Come any Tuesday or every Tuesday
Time: 11:00 AM
Why: So parents and their kids who use AAC can spend time with other parents and kids who use AAC doing something fun.What: Our kids bring their book and share at least 2 things about it.
Note:Shelley Harris, a graduate student in Library and Information Sciences who works at the LaGrange Library in Youth Services, will be on hand to read a short story, ask some questions and help anyone find the best book for them.

SHOPPING AND TALKING( AND HAVING FUN )

Where: Wild Oats in Hinsdale
When: Fridays starting June 23th – Come any Friday or every Friday
Time: 1:00 PM
Why: So parents and their kids who use AAC can practice shopping at the market.
What: We’ll meet in the café area, share our list and then shop for the items on our list.

DINING AND TALKING ( AND HAVING FUN )

Where:  Omega in Downer’s Grove
When: Mondays starting June 20th – Come any Monday or every Monday
Time: 10:30 AM
Why: So AAC users can practice ordering meals and chatting with others at the table.
What: After everyone orders themselves, we can talk about what we did over the weekend.
